Martin Scorsese has been casting Dicaprio for years now. I thought Dicaprio was a bit too young for his role in Gangs of New York, but am so impressed how he has matured as an actor. Plus Dicaprio is a champion for animal rights:)

I too like Leo for the same reason as you: He is a conscious and active environmentalist and supporter of animal rights.
